Q: Tell us about your journey to join Colliers – how long have you been in the industry, and what prompted you to join us?
I’ve been in the property for the past thirteen years, having started in a small local franchise agency at 17 fresh from school. I started in property management and by the time I was 20, I had began to sell some high profile properties and got a taste for transactions. I considered my options and liked the feel of the Colliers team and strength of the brand from the outset which didn’t restrict me to one product or size range, which allowed me to spread my wings and grow as an agent.
Q: What’s your current role at Colliers, and what do you find most fulfilling about it?
I am National Director, Property Sales & Leasing in our Sydney South Office. I enjoy doing deals and worked in a fast-paced environment. In recent years, I’ve really enjoyed the mentor relationship I have with some of our up and coming agents, providing guidance and advice to ensure they can be the best agent possible. It’s really satisfying to see them succeed, particularly when one of my colleagues Angus was named Rookie of the Year last year.
Q: Can you think of a transaction or project that you’re particularly proud of? What did you do to ensure its success?
It would have to be the Toyota site at Endeavour Road, Caringbah. We had the opportunity to pitch to transact the asset, impressing Toyota’s leadership with our strategy, branding the location and creating a best-in-class video to demonstrate the opportunity to buyers. We won the listing exclusively, and ran a comprehensive off-market EOI process including a week in Singapore and Hong Kong to present to buyers. We closed our the process, received 13 unconditional offers and created the competitive tension between buyers allowing to bid as aggressively as they could. We were able to achieve a price of $170.5m, equating the largest industrial/commercial sale to occur in the past five years in Sydney South. We’re now working with the new owner to realise their vision for the site. A true end-to-end process that allowed me to really showcase our creative flair and diligence to transact.
Q: Any final words of wisdom for those looking to join the Colliers team?
There are two key things that will help you succeed at Colliers – firstly, we have a very dominant brand in the market that is well respected and will assist you greatly when talking to clients. Secondly, there is really good internal processes allowing you to focus on being the best agent possible.
