About Me
Sven Sykes is a vice chair with Colliers’ Occupier Advisors Group. With 30+ years of experience, Sven’s objective is to grow the company’s tenant
representation platform in the Midwest region while continuing to perform corporate services work on behalf of strategic multi-market clients.
Sven was selected by the Greater Chicago Commercial Real Estate Committee as the Chicago Office Broker of the Year in 1998 and was a finalist in 1997. Sven was Grubb & Ellis’ top producing office broker in the country from 2004 through 2010. He achieved the Circle of Excellence each year beginning in 2004 and was a member of the President’s Council. Since joining Colliers in 2010, Sven has been recognized among the top performers, achieving Everest Club status each year.
During his career, Sven has represented Fortune 500 companies in metropolitan Chicago, Kansas City and nationwide and handled more than 1,000 office leasing and consulting assignments, totaling more than 25 million square feet, valued in excess of $6 billion. Assignments in more than 100 U.S. cities have ranged from 1,000 to 900,000 square feet.
Sven has assisted multiple strategic multi-market accounts including: Husch Blackwell LLP, Sikich, Inc., Swiss Re, Koch Industries, HNTB Corporation, Stinson LLP, NAVTEQ, Hallmark Corporation, PNC Bank, Compuware Corporation, McDonald’s Corporation, DST Systems, Hub Group, Inc., Nationwide Insurance, Wausau Insurance Companies, Wausau Benefits, Konica Minolta and Nokia.

Education
Sven holds a Masters of Arts Degree from Yale University and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Wisconsin.
Prior to joining Colliers, Sven spent eight years with Grubb & Ellis where he led the office tenant representation practice in metropolitan Chicago and continued to perform national assignments on behalf of his strategic multi-market clients.
Previously, Sven was an Executive Director at Insignia/ESG. Sven also worked for U.S. Equities Real Estate Services for eight years and for Royal LePage Commercial Real Estate Services.
Memberships & Involvements
Sven was a 2000–2001 Fellow with Leadership - Greater Chicago. He is a member of the Bascom Hill Society.
He spent several years as a committee member for Hoops for Life, a significant fundraising event on behalf of The American Cancer Society. Sven is a long-time supporter of Young Life, the Night Ministry, Friends of the Chicago River, Operation Breakthrough, Front Porch Alliance, Jackson County CASA, The Kansas City Symphony, The Nelson Atkins Museum of Art, Harvesters, and Village Presbyterian Church.
