Big Tech Doubles Down in Silicon Valley

Demand for Silicon Valley commercial real estate accelerated in the second quarter of 2021 as home-grown tech giants like Apple, Applied Materials, and NetApp deepened their footprint. This indicates that despite a trend of flexible and hybrid work models, physical campuses will continue to play a vital role in the Valley’s unique culture and growth.

Mike joined Colliers International in August of 2002 as a Vice President in the office division. Soon after he arrived, Mike was selected as the Team Leader for that group, a position he held for five consecutive terms. His primary focus is to enhance Colliers’ presence in the Silicon Valley market as a leader in commercial real estate sale and leasing consultation. With a diverse base of clients and a thorough knowledge of Santa Clara County's commercial neighborhoods, Mike brings a wide range of experience to the Colliers Team. In January of 2009, Mike was promoted to the position of Senior Vice President. 

After six years in high tech sales, Mike began his commercial real estate career at Bishop Hawk Inc. in 1991. As a new agent, Mike began to build his client base through detailed study of the local market and a commitment to service and professionalism that are still at the heart of his offering. In 1996, Mike was recognized as a Top 10 agent in the firm’s Santa Clara office and twice was awarded the Office Broker of the Year award. In 1998, Bishop Hawk Inc. was acquired by Grubb & Ellis Company. Mike, along with the rest of the Santa Clara office, made the transition to the new company. Taking advantage of Grubb’s national platform, Mike was able to enhance the offering to his client base by coordinating facility relocations and dispositions on a national scale. During his tenure at Grubb & Ellis, Mike was a multiple winner of the prestigious Circle of Excellence award, given to the company’s top agents in the nation. Clients Mike has represented include Honda, Morgan Stanley, AFLAC, Saint-Gobain, and LSG Skychefs, among others. Mike is currently a member of the Board of Directors for the Institute for the Study of Western Civilization and a member of the Association of Silicon Valley Brokers; NAIOP, the Commerical Real Estate Development Association and CCIM. Aside from his professional duties, Mike is the 8th grade basketball coach at the Charter School of Morgan Hill and spends as much time as he can with his wife Dana, who he married in 1987 and his two boys Ty, born in 1995 and Garrett, born three years later. His favorite leisure activities include cross country running in the area’s parks and preserves, studying history and politics and serving as a coach for young athletes in Morgan Hill and a mentor for students at Trace Elementary School in the Rose Garden area of San Jose. An avid sports fan, Mike enjoys attending local sporting events, as well as games and auto races around the country.
