My brokerage practice encompasses the office, retail and industrial real estate sectors of Oakland and the larger East Bay. Prior to my brokerage career, I worked for 16 years in development and planning for the City of Oakland, and I believe that my deep understanding of both public and the private sectors provides meaningful value to the investors, landlords and tenants I represent.
While serving as Director for the City of Oakland Redevelopment Agency, I directed many of the public and privately funded projects that helped shape Oakland into the town that we celebrate today. For example, I am proud to have managed the completion of the city’s Façade and Tenant Improvement Programs which was integral to attracting ground floor tenants to more than 250,000 SF of vacant space along Oakland’s commercial corridors. In addition, I succeeded in improving grocery presence in some of Oakland’s most problematic food deserts, and served a pivotal role in the development of more than 100,000 SF of newly constructed retail. These projects were large and complicated, and demanded creative, intricate solutions to be successful.
Today as client advocate and advisor, it is very satisfying to bring my extensive market expertise and understanding of the city planning process to my clients’ real estate goals. My commitment is to work tirelessly on every detail of a deal, and to bring meticulous execution to every part of the deal-making process.
I have a great fondness for the city of Oakland and the larger East Bay region, and hope to continue to enhance its value for owners, tenants, and other citizens. I think the individuals who work in the public sector bring admirable vision and skill to the community’s success, and I enjoy the fact that my brokerage work allows me to collaborate with some of the most talented and dedicated individuals working in the city.
Outside of work, I serve as board member for the Alameda County Salvation Army Advisory Board. I also enjoy running, tennis and keeping up with my wife and 5-year old daughter.
