Colliers Highbrook raise record funds for Motor Neurone Disease

alt=""

The Colliers Highbrook team has already raised over $150,000 for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) New Zealand by taking part in an Ice Bucket Challenge during MND Awareness Month.

Decked out in full suits, the team of 20 industrial sales and leasing and investment sales agents drenched themselves in ice water to raise awareness and much-needed funds for the cause last Friday.

MND is close to the team’s heart as both Greg Goldfinch, National Director of Industrial, and Ryan Gibb’s, Investment Sales Agent, dads suffer from the disease, which at present has no cure.

Goldfinch says they have been overwhelmed by the generosity and support so far.

“We are humbled beyond words at the incredible generosity of donations that have helped us raise a record amount of funds for MND NZ so far, and we have increased our fundraising goal to $200,000.

“Eight months ago, my precious dad was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. It was devastating for our family to learn that this debilitating disease has no treatment options.

“Since his diagnosis, we’ve also been surprised at the lack of awareness around MND, and that funding and research is negligible compared to other illnesses that are more common.”

Carl Sunderland, CEO of MND NZ says the funds will provide a year’s support to over 100 families that are affected by the disease.

“The generosity of Colliers’ community has been amazing.

“The funds raised so far will support over 100 families affected by MND for a full year, enabling MND NZ to continue providing this vital service and improving their quality of life.”

Colliers Highbrook challenge other organisations to donate or take part in their own ice bucket challenge to raise awareness, funds, and hope that one day soon there will be a cure.
