Airbnb grows faster than Hotels
The Netherlands is popular with domestic and foreign tourists. The number of stays at hotels in The Netherlands grew on average faster compared to the rest of Europe: 9% against 5%. In Amsterdam the increase was 12% (15,6 million overnight stays) whilst the growth of Airbnb was even higher with 25% with which its market share grew to 12%.

Dirk Bakker, Head of EMEA Hotels of Colliers International: ‘Compared to the international scene, the Dutch hotels perform very well. The high growth rates of Airbnb show the popularity of the platform and that is has conquered a permanent spot in the hotel branch. We expect that the market share will be between 12 and 14%’.
