About Me
I am a Director in Retail Scotland, and have responsibility for new business generation, client liaison and maintaining Colliers International’s position as a leading player in the retail agency.
Having joined Colliers CRE in April 2006 to become Head of In Town Retail I have over 25 years of experience in the UK commercial property market, having previously held similar roles with Cushman & Wakefield and Jones Lang LaSalle, all based in Glasgow.
I am part of a team of 3 within Colliers International Retail Scotland, and haves responsibility for new business generation, client liaison and maintaining Colliers International’s position as a leading player in the retail agency market in Scotland.
§ Landlords and Developers clients include Henderson Global Investors, Capital Shopping Centres, Mills Global, Hammerson, Lend Lease, Slough Estates, PCP, Helical, Aviva & Grosvenor. On the tenant side I have acted for numerous retailers including, J D Sports, Argos, Wilkinson, HBOS, Dixons Stores Group, Tui, Nationwide, Vodafone and Harvey Jones.
§ I have undertaken a wide range of agency based work including retailer group disposals and acquisition programmes, my main recent speciality has been Shopping Centre and High Street leasing, as well as retail development consultancy.
§ Leasing and Asset Management work has included most of the major shopping centres in Scotland:- intu Braehead, St Enoch Centre and Buchanan Galleries, all Glasgow; Princes Mall and Westside Plaza both Edinburgh; Overgate Centre, Dundee; Eastgate Centre, Inverness Antonine Centre, Cumbernauld; Kyle Centre, Ayr; Princes Mall, East Kilbride; Kingsgate Centre, Dunfermline; Clyde Centre, Clydebank and Gretna Gateway Outlet Village.

Education
I attended Queen Margaret Academy in Ayr before graduating from Paisley College (now West of Scotland University - Paisley) in 1982 with a BSc in Land Economics, and subsequently qualified as ARICS (now MRICS) in 1983.
I joined Colliers CRE in April 2006 to become Head of In Town Retail and has over 25 years of experience in the UK retail commercial property market. John previously held similar roles with Cushman & Wakefield and Jones Lang LaSalle, all based in Glasgow.
