James Shorthouse

James is one of the UK's leading advisers in Pub, Bar, Restaurant and Leisure sectors. He has worked in the sector for over 30 years, a period during which the sector has undergone enormous changes in its operational, ownership and regulatory structures.

Acting on behalf of major operators, investors and banks on portfolios and high value single assets, James' operator clients include Greene King, Stonegate Group and Hawthorn, whilst on the  investor side, for many years he advised Nomura and Terra Firma, and more recently has worked closely with serial investor Cerberus on its leisure sector investments as well as new entrants including Song Capital and global investor CK Holdings

Within Colliers International, James heads up the UK Licensed & Leisure team and also runs the businesses Alternative Markets Division which encompasses Hotels, Automotive, Healthcare, and other specialist Leisure teams.

James was previously Chair of the East Midlands branch of the RICS Junior Organisation and in 2011 succeeded in a personal ambition by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. He has undertaken fund raising cycle rides and is actively involved with local sports organisations.
