James Onions

James is a Director and Chartered Building Surveyor with over 25 years industry experience in commercial Building Surveying and Project Management. 

James is passionate about exceeding client expectations and providing best in class professional Building Consultancy services as a trusted adviser. His focus is on understanding his client’s business objectives and finding solutions that add value.

He is an excellent communicator and team leader always showing a collaborative, pragmatic and enthusiastic approach.

James is responsible for leading the Project & Building Consultancy team's activity within all our regional offices. 

Prior to re-joining Colliers, James jointly set up the first Paragon regional office in Manchester in 2015. He subsequently jointly opened the Leeds office in 2021. He was responsible for the management of key clients and maintains an active involvement in the delivery of instructions.

James’ expertise includes Project Management of large refurbishment and alteration schemes including various CAT A office refurbishments in Manchester and Leeds; Development Monitoring for funds, lenders and occupiers including a £50m redevelopment of a 1930’s department store in Leeds, a £23m steel rope factory in Newcastle and a £40m Grade II listed building in Manchester. 

He has also conducted pre-acquisition and technical due diligence surveys on commercial property in all sectors, ranging from individual assets to large portfolios at national and international level, where he’s worked in 14 countries to date.
