About Me
With over two decades of commercial property experience, most of which specialising in Business Rates, Ben's property knowledge is both diverse in terms of geography and asset type but also detailed. Large, small, common and uncommon property types, ranging from ATM's to distribution centres from boat moorings to hospitals, each asset requires their own consideration and valuation.
Ben is responsible for Colliers Business Rate appeal work in South West England and South Wales. Having also worked in London's West End Ben has a unique perspective regionally and nationally.
Clients include; property funds, developers, HNIs and occupiers from multinational PLCs to sole traders.
In addtion to providing expert rating advice Ben also provides consultancy to businesses concerned about how to bring properties into assessment. Ben also provides RV estimates and budget forecasts as well as rate audit and rate mitigation advice.
Colliers Rating team typically shares the risk/reward with Clients. As a result, fees are levied based on a percentage of the saving achieved which means Colliers are results driven and both Client and Colliers are mutually aligned to achieve the lowest rate liability possible. Over the years this has afforded strong, collaborative, relationships of great personal value.
Recent highlights include;
- Regional HQ building - consent order to reduced an RV from £1,600,000 to £900,000 following an appeal to the High Court Lands Chamber.
- A client with multiple properties saved over £500,000 following work to get the assessments reducecd to RV £0 from a particularly advantageous date.
Founder of the Bristol based Rating team having relocated in 2008 from Colliers' West End office. The team is now 5 strong and growing.
On a personal note; married with two young daughters, a keen sportsman but not too keen to spoil ongoing efforts to find the perfect country pub. Captaining my hockey team has been great fun and continues to be hugely rewarding.
