Andrew McFarlane

Chartered Surveyor with over 30 years experience. In that time I have worked in London, Brussels and Manchester and have been employed by Hillier Parker, Threadneedle and Colliers International. Head of North West from 2011 to 2019 and Head of Regions since 2013.

I specialise in solving large and complex property problems, as a Trusted Advisor, for public and private organisations across the Regions. I am an advocate for the Regions, the Northern Powerhouse, Devolution and Rebalancing of the Economy.

Bollinwater Estates - founded, built, operated and successfully exited from a vehicle that owned £45m of industrial property in the North & Midlands.

Lloyds Banking Group - involvement in a substantial loan recovery. Initially appointed to undertake a four week review to determine the ease with which the loan could be recovered the involvement extended over 21 months and resulted in Andrew's appointment as Non-Executive Chairman of the Borrower. The recovery was successfully delivered with the sale of the business to Hansteen in a transaction that yielded £150m for a portfolio of over 90 industrial estates, covering 4m sq ft and producing rent of circa £15m per annum from approx 550 tenants.

Faurecia - involved in a number of projects in the North West working in partnership with Dominique Bredin a Colliers International colleague who delivers services to this client across the world. 

Stainton - formed a joint venture with Lehman Brothers and others that owned and traded over £150m of property in the UK over a 10+ year period.

MCL Group, a part of Itochu - for 10+ years acted as the property adviser to the Board. Created and implemented a strategy to ensure that property met the needs of the business as flexibly and cost effectively as possible. Carried out many transactions which included individual sales and purchases of occupied, surplus and investment property. Handled the property due diligence which formed part of some substantial and strategically important corporate acquisitions. 

Aviva - former Client Director for Aviva one of the largest clients of Colliers International in the UK. Responsible for the delivery of property management, accounting and other services on a circa £5bn portfolio of properties throughout the UK. This role has now been passed to my colleague, Mark Jarrett, who continues our long established tradition of service excellence for Aviva ... an organisation we have been working with continuously since the early 1970's ... following it through the merger ofProvident Mutual with Commercial Union which then merged with General Accident to create Morley Fund Management before merging with Norwich Union to become what is now Aviva.
